Observations from a walk across campus

I just got out of Urban And Local Dev at the seminary and walked across campus. I made a number of observations:

  • People are out walking around just for the sake of walking
  • Students are kicking a soccer ball around in front of VO/Cook
  • Students are tossing a frisbee around in front of Quincer
  • A prof is holding class on the grassy incline by EDH
  • Contractors are moving dirt by the new main entrance

I really don’t want to be in my windowless office writing code right now…. :-)

100,000 Miles on the ST1100

I made time for a bike ride yesterday. I met Bryan up on Alpine and we enjoyed a nice little ride NW of GR It was great to be out on the open road with the bike humming along with me. It was the first ride in MI this year but it was also special because I rolled the odometer over the 100,000 mile mark. I bought it with 77,000 miles 2 years ago. I don’t think that’s just too bad.

But I’m Not Dead Yet

Where has Ryan been? Chris wondered if I was still alive. Most other readers see me at least across campus every once and again so they know I’m not dead but might wonder if I’m still living.

I’m keeping my head above water but some things like the blog and AIM have had to be neglected. Classes are more work than I anticipated and taken up my evenings and weekends. A couple of big projects at work have kept my days busy. Planning and leading the Katrina trip took up the other spare moments.

The trip went very well. There are some things I would have changed and done differently. There are other things which couldn’t have gone better. It was good to see God working through us and to see the students and staff grow. All in all a great trip. I wish I could give some deeper reflections and analysis but my brain is fried. Time for bed.
