Kayenta, Az

Well, I haven’t made it as far as I was hoping. I’m in Arizona just a little south of Monument Valley. I had a little bit of a delay on the road up to Monument Valley. I drove past a car pulled over, with a police car behind, and a man on the ground receiving CPR. I ended up assisting while waiting for the Ambulance (20 minutes) and then in the Ambulance while waiting for Life Flight (20 minutes.) The Native American had been selling merchandise in the park when he was hit by lighting. It entered his left shoulder and exited his right foot. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it.

Please keep his family in your prayers. His sister was present at the scene and saw it all happen. I’m doing fine. I took a Red Cross CPR/First Aid course this summer. Might I recommend you do the same sometime? You never know when you might need it…

I’ve updated my photo gallery with pictures that are more orderly. Check it out at http://picasaweb.google.com/elenbaum

    That’s scary. :-(

I took CPR/first aid quite a few years ago. I should take it again. not that I’d be able to use in in an emergency. I don’t work well under pressure. I’m one of those people who would probably panic.

    Holy crap! What an adventure!
I haven’t talked to you since the wedding, and now I see why. What a great way to spend your time, Ryan. It sounds like you’re having a great time!
What day are you driving home from Indy? I’m going back to Marion on Friday the first, and I’d love to see you if you want to stop by on your way home.

I keep forgetting to tell you this. Remember when we met and we played air hockey? well I do.. I remember it because you cheated. I was sooooo mad. Yeah that’s right sooooo with 5 o’s. I’m good at air hockey. You were just afraid you’d lose, so you had to cheat. How sad for you. haha Anyway.. I want to play again. :-)

Wow, that man’s family (especially the sister who saw it all happen) definitely need God’s comfort during this time. It is good to hear that you are doing fine. It is neat to hear how God is using you on your bike trip! This post makes me think I should do a refresher course in CPR/first aid. Have a blessed rest of your trip!
