The flight here was uneventful (as is preferred.)
We are staying at a Hotel for the first few days of training and will meet and move in with our host families on Saturday. Training has consisted of how not to get killed (ok, not quite that extreme), an introduction to the PC Staff, a tour of the headquarters, and our first language lesson. I think I will have my hands full learning the language but I should be able to figure it out somehow.
Moldova is interesting. I haven’t gotten out too far and right now we are in a pretty nice section of town which is comparable to other places I have been. Not too many people on the street and stores speak English so the language issue will be sink or swim.

How exciting! I’m sure you’ll do great at learning the language - living with a host family will probably help a lot. Might make for a few amusing stories along the way though

It is GREAT to hear that you made it to Moldova safe! Like Sarah said, I am sure you will do great with learning the language! I think it would be exciting to live with a host family! Can’t wait to hear more about your time there!

You will do just fine.

September 14th, 2006 at 5:41 pm
You’re wrong!

Ryan, as you’re learning Moldovan, don’t forget your invaluable English skills. (i.e. “extreme,” not “extreem.”)
I’m praying for you friend!

Leah makes a very good point
(”prefered” vs. “preferred”)

Leah and Sarah both make a very good point. (”comparable” vs. “comparible”)

I hope you have a good time. I am sure that you will pick up the language and well when its a sink or swim situation normally one picks the language up.

Fine, Fine, Fine… I will run spell check on my posts…. Anyone know if there is a spell check plugin?
Language is going to kick my tail… I really should have learned a language before.

You’ll pick up the language just fine once you start immersion with your host family (or, they’ll make fun of you relentlessly and you’ll be blissfully unaware ;).
Glad you made it there safe.
City Life will be lifting you up.

Ryan, take it from someone who did the immersion language/culture thing, you’ll pick it up quickly. I knew I was going to be fine when after 3 months, I started dreaming in Norwegian. You’re a bright guy so no worries.

Hi!
my car wouldn’t start.
do you want to come over and take a look at it?
haha
September 17th, 2006 at 2:14 pm
Ali,
I would love to take a look at your car in about 6 months. Would you be willing to buy a ticket?
Others,
It looks like I will have dial up internet for $.50/hour. Not too bad. I just need time to write.
My host family is great. I am slowly picking up the language. Yes they are making fun of me, but I can tell it.
My host mom is Lllia, My brother Andrei is 19 and my sister Diana is 14. They are really fun and helping me with the language.
We had a welcome ceremony in the villiage today. It was fun. I stil can’t dance. Changing continents didn’t help that. Sorry…

Hello Ryan, What village are you in or near? Do most folks live in the village and work out on the farms? Or do they now have homes right on the land they farm? Teach them the Hokey-Pokey…but then again they might know it, they invented the melody near there.

I cannot pay for a ticket. it’s unfortunate…I know.
I visited a friend yesterday and I told her where you were. a She said, “Ohhhh Moldova, I knew a woman from Moldova, awww.” She’s been to Romania a few times.
I think I would like your host family, because they make fun of you.
You can’t dance?!

Hi,
You’ll pick up the language. First you’ll start understanding it and then speaking it. Just make sure you understand what you speak.

Ryan Ryan Ryan,
To answer your question, yes there are spell check plugins for wordpress—but they all have their own little quirks about them—and besides that—its good to have your own unique english experience(I know I do every day) Other than that……Have you see the title of your recent posts. How amusing are they. Anyways, enjoy the moldovan experience. I’m sure it will be one you carry with you the rest of your life. And with your mindset, it shouldn’t take you more than a weeke to learn the language. Aiight, peace.

Ryan, should I send you some eggs and a salsa jar so you can do the egg dance
